Apprenticeships and dual study courses

As a warehouse logistics specialist, you will gain an insight into various logistical planning and organizational processes.

Your specific duties will be to make sure that all incoming and outgoing goods reach their proper place on time. By doing so, you will ensure that our production and assembly processes run smoothly.

During this apprenticeship, you will gain insight into quality control, order picking, customs clearance and complaints handling, and you will have the opportunity to put your interest in logistical processes and tasks into practice directly.

As an industrial mechanic, you will learn everything there is to know about metalworking in our training center and put your new skills into practice immediately.

You will plan components, create them using manual and machining production methods, assemble them to create assembly groups and ensure that the result is fully consistent. You will also learn how to program and produce components on our computer-controlled lathes and milling machines. We will show you how to design, set up, test and commission pneumatic and electropneumatic circuits.

• Prerequisites: Good secondary school leaving certificate or high school diploma and plenty of enthusiasm for the job
• Possible later occupational areas: Manufacturing, assembly, service and quality control

As a mechatronics technician, you will learn everything about how mechanical, electronic and control elements interact in our training center and put your new skills into practice immediately.

The main focuses of your work will be just as diverse: These will include, for example, measuring and testing electronic and mechanical variables, programming mechatronic systems, assembly and maintenance of machines and installation of hardware and software components.

This apprenticeship subsequently offers a wide range of areas of activity. As a mechatronics technician, you will be particularly well-suited to working on final assembly and commissioning of our systems as well as servicing for our customers worldwide. This role is all about detecting problems as quickly as possible and resolving them comprehensively.

• Prerequisites: High school diploma or excellent secondary school leaving certificate, and a great deal of enthusiasm for computers, technology and electronics
• Possible later occupational areas: Assembly, maintenance, servicing

As an electronics technician for automation technology, you will learn how to plan, set up, wire and test electronic circuits so that everything works the way it is supposed to, among other things, in the training center.

During your apprenticeship, you will gain knowledge about digital, control and converter technology as well as control systems for packaging machines. You will use your knowledge to commission our packaging machines.

Your responsibilities will also include maintenance and inspection of individual assembly groups. You are interested in electronics and technology, have a logical and systematic approach and are happy to work as part of a team.

• Vocational school: Robert-Bosch-Schule, Ulm
• Prerequisites: High school diploma or excellent secondary school leaving certificate, and a high level of interest in electrical engineering and programming
• Possible later occupational areas: Electrical assembly, commissioning, servicing

Industrial clerks are needed in many different areas: They purchase goods, create shipping documents, plan marketing campaigns, register financial activities or work in the Human Resources department.

We will teach you the basics of business management for this multifaceted career and show you how processes within a company are connected to each other.

During this apprenticeship, you will gain a great deal of experience in the Purchasing, Logistics, Marketing, Sales and Service, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources and Welfare and Information Technology departments. This will provide you with a wide overview of our operations and ensure you find your preferred department.

• Length of training: 3 years
• Vocational school: Kilian-von-Steiner-Schule, Laupheim
• Prerequisites: High school diploma and good English language skills
• Possible later occupational areas: All commercial departments within an industrial company, such as Sales, Purchasing, Project Management, Human Resources or Accounting

In collaboration with the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), we offer a variety of cooperative courses of study. The study model with a bachelor's degree lasts for three years. The goal of this model is to use practical teaching to provide vocational training that enables students to pursue independent careers.

During your studies at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, you will complete your apprenticeship in rotating three-month intervals, at Uhlmann and at the DHBW. You will benefit from subject-specific theory and gain an insight into the practical aspects of the field, where you will get to grips with technical and commercial processes and build upon your theoretical knowledge. You will actively work on thematically appropriate projects and gain valuable experience for the start of your professional life. This might even help you find a fascinating topic for your thesis. Prerequisites: At least advanced technical college entrance qualification

In collaboration with the Ulm University of Applied Sciences, we offer a cooperative course of study according to the "Ulm model". This course of study involves intensive practical phases and appropriate professional experience in just 4.5 years – while providing financial support. After graduation, you can get your career started right away – with your academic and practical professional qualifications, your career prospects will be extremely promising.

The admission requirement for the "Ulm model" is an advanced technical college certificate or equivalent qualification.

This course of studies is divided into two sections across nine semesters:

First section of studies (five semesters)

• Practical vocational training at Uhlmann and in the vocational school
• Undergraduate studies with two university semesters, completed by passing the pre-bachelor exam

Qualifications:

• Skilled worker certification
• Certificate of pre-bachelor exam

Second section of studies (four university semesters)

• Attendance at lectures for the main course of study at the university
• Consolidation of theoretical knowledge at the company
• Bachelor thesis in the ninth semester

Degree:

• Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.)

In 4.5 years, you will achieve qualifications such as these:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering/skilled worker certification as electronics engineer for automation technology
• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics/skilled worker certification as mechatronics engineer
