Packaging competence

Uhlmann Pac-Systeme takes a holistic approach to meet the increased requirements for sustainable packaging – starting with product design. Focusing on active substances, target groups and markets of pharmaceuticals as well as product protection, existing packaging equipment and the production rate, Uhlmann’s specialists work together with the customer on site to develop the best solution – also in terms of sustainability. The experts at the Uhlmann Packaging Competence Center contact the packaging manufacturers, develop a functional and reliable solution, and perform the corresponding tests to create a sustainable packaging concept with the highest level of product safety and best production rate.

Blisters

With the BEC 400 blister line, Uhlmann Pac-Systeme offers a solution for packing solid dose products that also processes recyclable mono PP blisters and is already running reliably at customers’ packaging sites. Under nine meters long, the BEC 400 combines a feeder, blister machine and cartoner into one high-performance unit. The BEC 400 is also designed for large volume folding cartons and for packing several blisters in a single unit. It packs all common geometries of solid dose products in two lanes at a speed of up to 400 blisters per minute, processing batches of 30,000 to 150,000 packages economically and efficiently.

Bottles

The stand-alone bottle equipment from Uhlmann is a further development of their intuitive, flexible and efficient method for packing solid dose products in bottles. The individual components of the portfolio can be used separately or can be combined to set up a packaging line. Naturally, SmartControl and the Pexcite software platform bring in all relevant digital aspects as part of the solution. Further outstanding features of the stand-alone bottle machines are that they are easy to access and clean and have a small number of format parts for changing formats quickly and without tools.

Direct-in-carton

The proportion of parenterals in the pharmaceutical industry is increasing because liquid medicines will determine the market of the future. This means that pharmaceutical companies need secondary packaging that both protects the product and is user- and environmentally friendly. With its PTC 200 cartoner line, Uhlmann Pac-Systeme already offers an innovative solution for processing materials that are more environmentally friendly and have a promising future. The PTC 200 securely packages ampoules, vials, syringes and other devices in sustainable, recyclable carton trays and folding cartons. With its wide range of formats, the PTC can be used in a variety of ways. The result is sustainable parenteral packaging with a wide choice of formats, in line with international climate protection guidelines, and even featuring increased efficiency, enhanced user-friendliness, and Uhlmann's trademark safety for products and patients.

Digital solutions

The only way to enable data-driven decisions and safe, future-oriented production of pharmaceuticals is by linking the data intelligently. With the Pexcite software platform, Uhlmann Pac-Systeme gives packaging companies the ability to connect and evaluate completely heterogeneous data and data sources. Designed as an open platform, Pexcite works with the latest technology and UX standards so that the various steps of the packaging process can be designed and managed more efficiently. Not only do the Pexcite solutions help to optimize energy consumption, they also make it possible to automate the management of maintenance, formats and spare parts to a great extent. This achieves transparency for planning costs and processes.

Service & support

Switching to innovative, new, more sustainable solutions is no trivial task, especially when it comes to packaging pharmaceutical products. Once the regulatory requirements have been clarified, the new processes must be set up and then quickly brought up to a reliable, economical production level and certified. Uhlmann Pac-Systeme provides service solutions to help users in all phases of the conversion to sustainable packaging and the life cycle of their line – from Ramp-Up3 Support for the start-up phase, to advice and support for converting existing lines for mono-materials, to maintenance and spare parts service.
